Splatters and Misting

Hello everybody. Today is my turn to host July Inspired By Challenge#3 at Scrappin' Peeps. This week challenge is all about technique and I decided to explore and play the world of spray inks.  I love love love using spray ink (and paints). My page is not complete without them. So I issue a challenge to create a page with splatters or misting. Come and join us!

 Let's Get Sketchy July Week 1 Sketch

 

 

To create the background, I folded 12 x 12 cardstock to create an equal triangle. Cover half of the white cardstock and do the misting on the half and splaters on the other half. I used Dylusion spray ink bubblegum pink (splatters) and london blue colors (misting).

I used watercolor paper to create these cards.

Can someone please tell me how to call this paper? *embarrased* It's a kind of heavy tissue paper use to wrap flowers. A mulberry paper? I don't know, I'm not sure...Anyways, I used this paper to create this "Happy Bee Day" card.

 

 

Prepare your sheet.

 

 

Lay a mask/stencil on top.

 Mist with your favorite color spray ink.

 Let it dry completely.

 

• watercolor paper - Michaels
• stencil - TCW Hexagons
• string - American Crafts
• "Happy" - RAK from Laurie - Jenni Bowlin
• "bee" - altered BG chipboard letters. Just painted it with black and straw color from Ceramcoat by Delta
• "day" - American Crafts
• spray ink - Dylusions , cut grass color
• bee - cuttings from an old birthday card

 

 

 

 

Lay a mask/stencil on top.

I used tape to keep the stencil in place.

 

 

Apply ink.

 

 

For paint splatter, I mixed  paint with a little amount of water .

 Mix to get the water down consistency.

 

 

Splatter the paint down, tap your brush freely.

Let it dry completely.

Stamp images onto a vellum paper. Set the ink to dry.

 

 

Paint the back of the image.

You can use, colored pencil, ink, or even watercolor pencil.

Let it dry completely.

 

 

Fussycut them and you are ready.

Nanaimo Visit 2012

Instead of double pager layout, I decided to try different approach for this one. I honestly don't know how to call this  but my inspiration is from a wedding invitation.

I used this --->

 

as my stencil.This is actually from pizza box. Instead of putting the pizza directly on the box, our favorite pizza parlor use this to keep the pizza crust "crispy". Mist with Dylusion ink - lemon zest and cut grass color. Twine and wooden buttons - Michaels; chipboard letter - Basic Grey 

 

 

 

 

 

I used masking tape to attach sides patterned paper, doodled dots and lines to get "spiral notebook" effect.

Fabric Flowers

I am loving these fabric flowers lately. I started with few strips of burlap and one day Kim gave me more fabrics to work on (",). Here's how I made them :

Strip of fabric (I used burlap) about 5cm wide, cardstock circle (approximately bigger than you want the finished flower to be.

Twist the fabric.

 

Secure the twisted end of the fabric to the center of the cardstock cirlce with hot glue gun or fabric glue and press it. Continue to twist and coil the fabric around the center and use hot glue gun as needed to secure the fabric in place.

 

 

If you meet your desired size , trim off any excess cardstock or fabric. Insert the tail of the fabric under and secure with hot glue gun.

Mist, paint, ink the flower or leave it as plain.

 

 

 Add button, pearls, brads, rhinestones or other embellishment.

 

For another twist, I used longer strip of fabric, about 60cm, about 5cm wide.

 

 

Twist and fold and follow the same instructions above.

Rainy Days

This is my take for CSI Case 56

 

I did some rain painting here, doodled some clouds and rain with marker and let it soak outside the rain. Let it dry and outline the clouds and raindrops. I had so much fun using the transparent pocket from K & Company to frame Rowan's head.

 

Cardstock - Recollection, DCWV;  Twine, chipboard letter sticker (originally white but I altered with res marker, patterned paper for tag, cloud die cut sticker - American Crafts; Glimmer Mist Tattered Angels; Ink - Colorbox and Memento; Rhinestones - Michaels; Punch-Martha Stewart.
